Private Mahjong lessons are available in Columbia, Centralia, Jefferson City, Fulton, and surrounding Mid-Missouri communities. A minimum of eight participants is required to schedule a private lesson.

Learn Mahjong Together

Private lessons provide a relaxed learning experience tailored to your group. We break Mahjong into clear, manageable steps and allow plenty of time for questions, demonstrations, and hands-on practice.

Beginner lessons may cover:

  • Mahjong tiles, suits, and terminology

  • How to read the National Mah Jongg League card

  • Selecting and organizing a hand

  • The Charleston

  • Drawing, racking, exchanging, and discarding

  • Using jokers correctly

  • Calling and exposing tiles

  • Table etiquette and common rules

Groups with previous experience can request a lesson focused on strategy, decision-making, Charleston techniques, hand selection, defensive play, or guided practice.

Private Group Mahjong Lessons

Participants do not need previous Mahjong experience or their own equipment. Private instruction is ideal for first-time players who prefer learning with a familiar group, as well as returning players who want a refresher before joining an open-play event.
